ASHIRA brings a unique sound to Jewish liturgical music. Comprised of Arianne Slack, Laura Lenes, and Leah Moss, this New York-based trio draws on the various musical backgrounds of its members - ranging from cantorial music and musical theater to pop and opera - to add an exciting, new sound to the synagogue service. Singing both contemporary and traditional melodies of the Shabbat service in new settings of three part harmony, ASHIRA involves the congregation in services by teaching new melodies, using sign language for parts of the service, and including children in the service. ASHIRA's unique vocal sound is enhanced by close bonds of friendship as well as by the trio's love of music and Judaism.
